In 2006, Jonathan Segal and a motivated group of creatives and digital designers opened up Oceanic Communications, initially focused on providing web design and development services to organisations in Fiji. Ahead of its time, Oceanic created multiple ground-breaking marketing solutions from the time it first opened it’s doors. Vodafone Fiji’s first E Commerce website was developed and managed by Oceanic developers for 10 years. The site was responsible for conducting the largest amount of ecommerce transactions in the country. Another milestone digitization project for Oceanic was the Vodafone Sim Registration Solution. The web-based app transformed a 32-hour paper process to 3min digital one, significantly increasing customer satisfaction and changing the way Vodafone operated forever.
Websites are a communication platform and a good development effort can result in significant problem solving but world-class design and engaging content is required to ultimately meet business objectives. Recognizing this as a limitation of only providing web development services, Oceanic expanded its service offerings to provide more traditional agency work; advertising, radio and television, and strategic consulting. This expansion was welcomed by our clients when, for the first time, they had consistent marketing communications strategy across multiple channels. This was a first anywhere in the country.
